La representaci´n femenina en la diversa obra plástica de Mesoamérica, tanto en monumentos públicos como en cerámica, artefactos voticos y códices, es conocida desde periodos tempranos. El análisis epig´rafico, el estudio iconog´rafico y la arqueología han identificado la figura femenina en las representaciones artísticas; las cláusulas nominales en los textos mayas permiten conocer a muchas mujeres, así como su papel en las antiguas redes políticas, su importancia en las slianzas matrimoniales, su actividades rituales y sus asociones simbólicas.

Esta exhibición muestra la importancia de las mujeres en la sociedad maya a través del arte, presenta al público diferentes ejemplos de la colección del Museo de Popol Vuh de la Universidad Francisco Marroquin.

Cada uno de los objetos seleccionados representan un rol y momento en la vida de las mujeres mayas, inmotalizando y abriendo una ventana al día a día de las nobles y plebetas en tiempos prehispánicos.
